Graphologi 1.0.11 release

Paul Appleby • 14 April 2021

We continue to take on board feedback from users and the Graphologi 1.0.11 release includes three major enhancements driven by that feedback. This release includes:

  • Customisable TSV (tab-separated values) export for taxonomies. TSV is a spreadsheet-like format easily imported into applications such as Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Advanced search across a project.
  • Improved history viewing and the ability to download history.
As well as that we have made various minor improvements to the user experience as well as having fixed a number of bugs. From this release forward a set of release notes will be available for each release at https://graphologi.com/release

TSV export

One of our primary goals is to help taxonomists and organisations to improve how they manage their data. However, we absolutely acknowledge that spreadsheet-like data isn't going away any time soon. Therefore, we have massively enhanced the TSV (tab-separated values) export capabilities in Graphologi.

Users can now create customisable exports for taxonomies and collections using the TSV builder, controlling which columns are output and in what order. For instance, you might add a column for alternative labels in English and another in French (as in the example image below). You can also include additional properties that are used from ontologies. You can move columns around, either by switching or dragging them, until you are happy with the setup.

An example of this output in Google Sheets is given below.

As you might want to export more than once it is possible to save an output configuration as a template for reuse later on. You simply select the template at a later time and that initialises the TSV builder with that setup.

Advanced search

A taxonomy project in Graphologi can contain many taxonomies. The new advanced search allows you to find concepts across the project and view a set of results. You can filter the search by taxonomy, label, class and language. The class filter allows you to select from classes used from an associated ontology project.

An example of the advanced search is shown in the image below, where the search is looking for the text 'sol' in French within alternative labels of all the taxonomies in the project.

Enhanced history

It is important for many users to be able to track what changes have been made to a taxonomy, collection or ontology within Graphologi. This release provides much improved on-screen history viewing, as well as the ability to filter what you see and then download the results. This applies at all levels where history is available across Graphologi.

History download is available in JSON or TSV formats.
