Graphologi 1.0.7 release

Paul Appleby • 7 February 2021

It is only a couple of months since we went live with Graphologi but we haven't been slowing up. Release 1.0.7 is now available. This is the first major update in terms of features, including:

  • Improved export and import.
  • Support for N-triples on import into a project.
  • Deprecation of concepts.
  • Make suggestions for new concepts or changes to existing concepts.
As well as that we have made numerous minor improvements to the user experience and fixed a number of bugs.

Export and import

A project in Graphologi can contain many components. The new project export feature includes all components in a project. In Vocabulary Manager that will be all the taxonomies and collections and in Ontology Manager all of the ontologies. And of course, once exported, you now have the ability to reimport those projects if needed.

We also now support the N-triples format for import into a project.

Deprecation of concepts

Within the lifecycle of a concept there may come a time when the concept needs to be retired. If a concept has been used out in the wild then it may be more desirable to deprecate it rather than delete it, which will ensure its IRI (identifier) is not lost. By deprecating a concept, it is, for most purposes, disabled from being changed in Graphologi.

Make suggestions

Management and governance of a taxonomy is not necessarily a one person task. It can often be desirable to let other users suggest new concepts or changes to existing concepts. Graphologi now supports this by allowing users to make suggestions and then discuss them by adding commentary to each suggestion.

As elsewhere in Graphologi the ability to make suggestions and add comments to them is controlled through permissions. It may be that certain users act only in a 'reviewer' role and therefore the only changes they should be able to make are to add suggestions and comments. Graphologi allows you to set up things to do exactly this. Those users who do have the appropriate permissions are able to accept or reject suggestions.

Certain suggestion types are automatically actioned when accepted. For example new concept, move a concept and deprecation suggestions are all applied on acceptance.

Next steps

We will, of course, continue to further enhance Graphologi. We welcome your feedback and would love to hear requests for features that you would like to see us support.

Try for free

As always you can try out the new features for free at https://graphologi.graphifi.com. A month's trial is available with no need for any payment details.
